CASE STUDY FOR HALIFAX TOWN CENTRE - HIGHWAYS

In the summer of 2024 we were asked to support a local SME take off and price a complex, £6m public realm package of work across 7 sections of Halifax town centre. Works included high quality paving, minor demolition, drainage, traffic signals and ducting for diverted utilities. 

Project scope: Take off and estimating

In addition to the 700 separate items in the BoQ we also produced a fully costed risk and opportunity register, prelims book, exclusions and inclusions register and cover letter. We attended 2 face-to-face meetings where we talked through the pricing, risks and areas where decisions were needed.

Benefits/successes:

• The project was successfully awarded and is now underway

• There are 2 further packages of work which means the package value could increase to  >£15m

• We provided free of charge programme input (outside of our scope) owing to our detailed pricing knowledge

• We delivered the work in 6 weeks across peak summer holiday season

• We remained on hand for post tender queries throughout the negotiation stage
