CASE STUDY: RESOURCING IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR

PS Resourcing was approached by Flannery to headhunt a Bid Manager into a brand new role within their business. This is a notoriously competitive market, and the client had a specific brief they wanted us to meet. They needed a professional with a diverse background: managing tenders and bid submissions in the construction sector; with further skills in writing; and the ability to produce visually aesthetically pleasing content. A lot of their bids are specific to Tier 1 clients in the sector and their ideal candidate needed to able to deliver work to a high standard from the outset.
Project scope:
As resourcing specialists in the construction sector, our role was to adopt a recruitment strategy to deliver the highest calibre of candidates for our client. We met with them and did our research to ensure we knew as much about their business and the position available - so we could approach the market effectively.
Due to our vast networks in the sector our first point of call was to explore our personal contacts who had the potential to be a good fit for the role. We then employed our executive search skills, scouring various job boards for candidates with the key skills identified by the client. From this we were able to build a shortlist.
Our experience confirmed our expectations that the passive candidate market would be our focus for this search. This is where taking the time to understand our client’s needs was an extremely important part of the recruitment process, as we were able to sell our client and the role to candidates who weren’t actively looking. When approached directly we had all the context, information and enthusiasm it required to catch their interest.
We delivered an excellent shortlist of candidates to the client and were pleased that one of our candidates was successful in their interview and accepted the role.
